Smuggling Contraband

Q: How exactly do they smuggle stuff in? Is it always up their ass?

A: In prison, kiestering [smuggling in the ass] usually accounts for a small portion of the contraband. Most inmates only kiester something if they are coming through Visiting or from outside the prison. Once they are inside they don't have to worry as much about being strip searched since they are often just given a pat-down so the need to kiester is less important.

Most contraband comes in through work areas, religious volunteers, and the occasional dirty employee. If the inmates get the contraband from those areas it is much easier for them to bring it back to the housing units since they are already behind the fence line.

The dirty employees tend to get caught though since inmates love to rat out those who supply their competitors.

Besides kiestering, the inmates get pretty creative with how they smuggle stuff. I know of an inmate who convinced his friend on the outside to teach a cat how to get in and out of the prison. Once they had it trained, the friend started strapping drugs to it and sending it to the prison. Eventually a Captain caught on to the cat trick and had some officers, and the local PD, follow the cat back to the friend's house a few miles away. When they caught the friend he rolled over and told on the inmate.
